Electronic Healthcare Records

Ashley Barret and Keri Stephens have worked together on a number of projects, but their work on Electronic Healthcare Records offers insight into what happens when healthcare workers use workarounds when entering health data into records.  This is from Ashley’s dissertation and in June of 2018 this article was acknowledged with a Top 3 Paper of the Year Award from Management Communication Quarterly.

Public Health

One of our teams partnered with researchers at the UT School of Public Health in Houston to examine how to send brief messages using text messaging.  That article was published in Vaccine in 2017 and the lead author was Matthew McGlone, a persuasion expert in Moody College of Communication at UT Austin.

Yaguang Zhu and Keri Stephens published a book chapter that pulled together the work on identity, health, and technology.  That chapter expands thinking on social identity and it builds on work published by the team of Stephens, Elizabeth Goins, and Stephanie Dailey when they looked at how social media might play a role in how organizations disseminate health information
